Low Countries (c. 1400-1600), with a particular focus on the role of women religious
in preserving and transmitting the sermons delivered by their confessors

Carolyn Muessig is currently working on a monograph that investigates

Andrew Reeves
Andrew Reeves works on pastoral care in thirteenth-century England,
focusing largely on how parochial clergy and others charged with the cure of souls
served as confessors and catecheists.

Pietro Delcorno
Pietro Delcorno is associate professor of medieval history at the University of Bologna.
He researches on late medieval preaching, with a particular focus on Lenten sermon
collections, the Observant movement and the interplay between preaching and other form of religious

Jussi Hanska
Jussi Hanska works on the social and cultural history of 13th and
14th century preaching. He has published books and articles on the history of poverty,
natural disasters, and anti-Judaism seen through the model sermon collections.
Pavel Soukup
Pavel Soukup studies late medieval sermon collections from Central
Europe. He is also interested in religious polemics, heresy and crusade
in the fifteenth century. At the intersection of these research fields,
his favourite topic is the preaching of the cross against the Hussites.
Eleonora Lombardo
Eleonora Lombardo works on Late Medieval Latin sermons (13th-14th cent.)
written by Franciscan and Dominican friars with a particular focus on the
construction of holiness and on antiheretical struggle.

Shari Boodts
Shari Boodts works on the dissemination, manipulation and reuse of
late-antique preaching in the Middle Ages, with a particular focus on
Augustine and the numerous anonymous sermons attributed to him over
the course of their transmission. She also maintains PASSIM, a database and search interface
for the study of patristic texts in medieval manuscripts.
